Terms of Use
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Honey Butter Bread at https://honeybutterbread.com (the “Site”). Last updated: October 6, 2026. Please read them with the Disclosure and the Privacy Policy, which explain how the Site is funded, how its content is prepared and how information is handled. In these terms, “we,” “us” and “our” mean the owners, operators, editors and contributors of Honey Butter Bread. The Site’s owner has not published a legal entity name or postal address, and these terms do not claim one.
Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing or using the Site, you agree to these Terms of Use and to the policies they refer to. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site. These terms work together with the Disclosure, which describes commercial and editorial practices, and the Privacy Policy, which describes how information is handled. The About page explains the Site’s editorial persona and is provided for context, not as a separate contract. If you use the Site on behalf of a business or another person, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms for them. If you are under the age of majority where you live, please use the Site with a parent or guardian. The Site is written for home bakers in the United States and is not directed to children under 13. If these documents appear to conflict, the Privacy Policy controls on how personal information is handled, and the Disclosure controls on how commercial relationships are described. These terms apply to the extent permitted by the law where you live, and they do not take away rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived.
What the Site Is and How It Is Provided
Honey Butter Bread is a static, informational website about home bread baking. It publishes recipes, technique explanations, troubleshooting guides, storage notes and a small number of research-based equipment and ingredient articles. The Site has no user accounts, no newsletter, no comments and no online store, and it does not sell products or take payments. The Site has no social media accounts. The only interactive feature is the contact form on the Contact page, which is described in the contact section below. The purpose of the content is general education and entertainment for home cooks, not individualized instruction. The Site is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure from every threat or available at any particular time or in any particular place. We may add, change, move or remove pages, features, recipes and images at any time without notice. The Site is served through Cloudflare, which hosts it as a static site through a Cloudflare Worker with static assets, and outages or changes at that provider or at other third-party infrastructure can affect availability. Images on the Site are illustrative. They are not photographs of tested recipes unless a page says otherwise, and your results may look different. The Site’s author is a fictional editorial persona, as described below and on the About page.
Permitted Use and Prohibited Conduct
You may read the Site, follow its recipes in your own kitchen, print or save pages for personal use and share links to our pages. You agree not to misuse the Site or interfere with it or with other people’s use of it. In particular, you agree not to do any of the following:
- Use the Site in violation of applicable law or the rights of others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its hosting environment, its source code repositories or any related systems or accounts.
- Probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Site or circumvent any security or access measure, except as permitted by applicable law.
- Introduce malware, or send traffic or requests in a volume or manner that burdens, degrades or disrupts the Site.
- Submit the contact form by automated means, fill its hidden anti-spam field on purpose, or try to defeat, bypass or spoof the Cloudflare Turnstile check that protects it.
- Use automated tools to copy the Site at scale, including scraping content to republish it, to build a competing product or to train a commercial dataset, without our written permission.
- Impersonate us, our editorial persona or any person, or misrepresent your affiliation with the Site.
- Present our content as your own or imply that we endorse you, your products or your services.
- Send us unlawful, harassing, threatening, fraudulent or abusive messages, or send unsolicited commercial messages through the contact form or to the address published on the Site.
These examples do not limit the general rule that you must use the Site lawfully and reasonably. Nothing in this section is intended to restrict good-faith security research that applicable law protects. If you find a security problem, please tell us through the details on the Contact page and give us a reasonable opportunity to address it before disclosing it publicly.
Intellectual Property, Permitted Reuse and Infringement Inquiries
Unless otherwise noted, the text, recipes as written, page design, layout, code and original compilation of the Site belong to its owners or are used with permission. The author portrait and some other images are generated or illustrative, and some third-party names, logos and trademarks may appear for identification only. Third-party marks belong to their respective owners, and their appearance does not imply sponsorship or endorsement. Subject to these terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to view the Site and to use its recipes and instructions to bake at home for personal, non-commercial purposes. Basic facts, ingredient lists and simple methods are not themselves owned by anyone, and nothing here claims otherwise. You may quote a short excerpt with a clear credit and a link to the original page. You may link to any page on the Site. Please do not republish our articles or recipes in full, reproduce our images, or sell or redistribute our content without our written permission. Do not remove copyright or attribution notices. All rights not expressly granted are reserved, to the extent permitted by law.
If you believe that content on the Site infringes your copyright or other rights, please use the Contact form or email hello@honeybutterbread.com with the following details:
- Identify the work you believe has been infringed.
- Identify the page and location on the Site where the material appears.
- Provide your name and a way to reach you.
- Include a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized.
- Include a statement that your information is accurate and that you are the rights holder or are authorized to act for the rights holder.
The Site has not designated or registered an agent with the U.S. Copyright Office, and we do not claim that any statutory safe harbor applies. We will review inquiries in good faith and may remove or change content as we see fit. Because end-to-end delivery of contact messages has not yet been tested, we recommend that you keep a copy of anything you send us and consider sending it by more than one route. See the Contact page and the contact section below for current availability.
Messages and Submissions
The Site has no public user-content features. There are no comments, reviews, forums, uploads, user profiles or recipe submission pages, and nothing you send us is published automatically. The ways to send us a message are the contact form on the Contact page and an email to hello@honeybutterbread.com. The form asks for a name, an email address, a subject and a message. If you send us a message, a question, a correction or a suggestion, you are doing so voluntarily. You confirm that you have the right to send it and that it does not violate any law or anyone’s rights. Unless you tell us otherwise and we agree, you grant us a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to use your feedback, corrections and suggestions to improve the Site, without any obligation to credit or compensate you. We will not publish your name or your message publicly without your permission. We are not obliged to reply to, act on or keep any message. Please do not send sensitive personal or health information, such as medical conditions or details of your allergies. The Privacy Policy explains how form submissions and emails are handled.
Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. This includes, to the extent permitted by law, any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, accuracy, completeness, non-infringement and quiet enjoyment. We do not warrant that any recipe, measurement, time, temperature, ingredient substitution, nutrition note, storage guideline, equipment comment or other content is accurate, complete, current or suitable for you. We do not warrant that a recipe will produce a particular loaf, crumb, crust, rise, flavor, texture or yield. Baking outcomes depend on many factors outside our control, including flour type and brand, hydration, yeast or starter activity, water and kitchen temperature, humidity, altitude, oven calibration and behavior, pan or cookware choice, and technique. We also do not warrant that the Site will be free of viruses, errors or interruptions, that defects will be corrected, or that messages sent through the contact form or by email will be delivered, read or answered. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranties to be disclaimed, so some of these disclaimers may not apply to you. In that case, the disclaimers apply only to the extent permitted by law, and any warranty that cannot be excluded is limited in duration and scope to the minimum the law allows. Nothing in these terms affects non-waivable consumer rights that you may have under the law where you live.
No Professional Advice and Topic-Specific Risks
The Site’s content is general information. It is not medical, nutritional, dietary, allergy, food-safety, legal, engineering, safety or other professional advice, and reading it does not create a professional relationship with anyone. The Site’s author, Nora Whitfield, is a fictional editorial persona, and the portrait is a generated image. Neither the persona nor the portrait is evidence of professional credentials, employment, certification or hands-on product testing. Please consult a qualified professional for advice about your circumstances.
Food allergies, intolerances and special diets
Bread commonly contains wheat, gluten, dairy, eggs, nuts and seeds, and recipes may be adapted with other ingredients. Ingredient lists and substitution notes on the Site may be incomplete, may not reflect your brands and are not allergen guarantees. Always read the labels of the products you buy, because manufacturers change formulations and may process allergens in shared facilities. If you have celiac disease, a food allergy, an intolerance or another condition, gluten-free baking requires careful avoidance of cross-contact in flour, equipment, surfaces and storage, and you should seek guidance from a doctor or registered dietitian. Nutrition, gluten-free, low-carb, keto and other diet-related content is educational. It does not diagnose, treat or prevent any condition and does not replace advice from a physician or registered dietitian. Nutrition values are estimates that vary with ingredients, brands, portions and preparation. Do not delay or disregard professional advice because of something you read here.
Food safety
Raw flour and raw dough can carry bacteria, and raw eggs can too. Do not taste raw dough or batter, wash your hands and surfaces after handling them, and bake to a safe doneness. Sourdough starter, discard, dough and finished bread must be stored safely, and storage times on the Site are general guidance rather than guarantees. Do not eat bread that shows mold, and do not rely on trimming mold away from porous foods such as bread. If you are pregnant, immunocompromised, elderly or feeding young children, ask a qualified professional about food-safety precautions that fit you.
Kitchen hazards and equipment
Baking involves real hazards. These include hot ovens, preheated Dutch ovens and baking stones, steam, boiling-water baths for bagels and pretzels, hot oil, sharp lames, knives and graters, heavy cookware, electrical appliances and open flames. You may suffer burns, cuts, scalds, fire, smoke inhalation, electric shock, property damage or other injury or loss if you do not take proper care. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety warnings for every oven, mixer, bread machine, pot, pan and tool you use. Oven temperatures, preheating times and bake times vary, and the figures on the Site are guidance only. Altitude, ingredient brands and the way you measure also change results, so use your own judgment and your senses as well as the numbers. Use oven mitts, keep children and pets away from hot equipment, never leave an oven or appliance unattended when that would be unsafe, and follow local safety requirements. Make your own judgment about whether a technique is safe for you and your kitchen. If you are unsure, consult the manufacturer or a qualified professional before proceeding.
Equipment and ingredient content
Equipment roundups and reviews are research-based and are not laboratory or hands-on tests. They draw on specifications, manufacturer information and patterns in owner reports. Product details, formulations, prices and availability change, and you should confirm them with the manufacturer or retailer before relying on them. The Disclosure describes the research method in more detail.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, neither the Site’s owners, operators, editors, writers, contributors, contractors, licensors, service providers, successors or assigns, nor any of their respective agents (together, the “Released Parties”) will be liable to you for any loss or damage arising out of or connected with your access to or use of, or inability to use, the Site or its content. This exclusion covers direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary and punitive damages, and loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, however caused and under any theory of liability, including contract, tort, negligence, strict liability and statute, even if we were told the loss was possible. Without limiting that, to the fullest extent permitted by law the Released Parties are not liable for any of the following:
- Burns, cuts, fires, smoke, electric shock, property damage, appliance or cookware damage and other injuries or losses from using ovens, cookware, tools or appliances while following the Site’s content.
- Allergic reactions, intolerance reactions, illness, food-borne illness or other health effects arising from ingredients, food handling, storage, cross-contact or consumption of food made using the Site.
- Baking failures, wasted ingredients, spoiled food or disappointing results.
- Decisions to buy, use or avoid any product, appliance or ingredient based on the Site’s roundups, comparisons and comments.
- Errors, omissions, outdated information, inaccurate nutrition estimates or inaccurate product details.
- Actions or content of third parties, including linked websites, retailers, manufacturers and infrastructure, email and spam-protection providers.
- Interruptions, delays, data loss, unauthorized access or technical failures affecting the Site or its infrastructure providers.
- Reliance on any message sent to or from the Site, including messages that are not delivered, are delayed, are lost or are not answered.
Because no fixed monetary cap has been set by the Site’s owner, these terms do not state one, and the exclusions above apply to the fullest extent the law allows. If the law of your jurisdiction does not allow the complete exclusion of liability, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law permits. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. That may include liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, violations of law or, in some places, death or personal injury caused by negligence. For example, some laws, such as California Civil Code section 1668, restrict contractual exclusions of responsibility for one’s own fraud, willful injury or violation of law. Some places also do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so parts of this section may not apply to you. This section does not say that anyone can never be held liable, and it does not guarantee that any limitation will be enforced in a particular case. The limitations in this section reflect a reasonable allocation of risk given that the Site is a free informational resource.
Indemnification
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses and reasonable expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of or related to any of the following:
- Your violation of these terms or of applicable law.
- Your misuse of the Site or interference with it or with others’ use of it, including abuse of the contact form.
- Any message or material you send us that infringes or violates another person’s rights or is unlawful.
- Any claim by a third party relating to your use of the Site’s content, including your preparation, serving, sale or distribution of food made using it, or your instruction of others.
We may, at our own expense, assume the exclusive defense of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, and you agree to cooperate reasonably. This section does not apply to the extent that it is prohibited or limited by law, including consumer protection law that may restrict indemnity obligations for individuals. It also does not require you to cover losses to the extent that they were caused by a Released Party’s own fraud, willful misconduct or other conduct for which liability cannot lawfully be shifted to you.
Third-Party Links, Content and Products
The Site may link to other websites, including ingredient producers, equipment manufacturers, retailers, reference sources and other publications. It may also mention third-party products, brands and services. We do not own or control those sites, products or services, and a link or mention is not an endorsement, a guarantee or a statement that the third party is reliable, safe or accurate. Third parties have their own terms, privacy practices, prices, return policies and warranties, and you deal with them at your own risk. We are not responsible for the content, availability, security, practices or policies of any third-party site or for any purchase or transaction you make with a third party. If you buy a product, the seller or manufacturer, and not the Site, is responsible for the product, its warranty, its delivery and its returns. If you notice a broken or inappropriate link, please tell us through the details on the Contact page. The Site relies on Cloudflare for hosting, DNS, spam protection on the contact page and email handling for contact messages, and on GitHub for private source hosting. These providers have their own terms and privacy practices, and the Privacy Policy describes their roles.
Commercial Relationships
The Site’s commercial position today is simple. There are no affiliate relationships, no advertising network, no sponsorships and no free-product arrangements configured. The Site is not enrolled in Amazon Associates or any other affiliate program, and no links on the Site currently earn us commissions. If any of that changes, we will update the Disclosure and place a clear notice near the affected content. The Site does not sell products or services, so there is no checkout, order or refund process on the Site.
Privacy
Your use of the Site is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference. In short, the Site installs no analytics or advertising tools and has no accounts, newsletter or comments. The Site sets no cookies of its own, and it stores a light or dark theme preference in your browser’s local storage on your own device. On the contact page only, Cloudflare Turnstile loads to separate people from bots, and it may process browser and device signals under Cloudflare’s own terms. We receive the information you submit through the contact form or send to hello@honeybutterbread.com. If these terms and the Privacy Policy conflict about how personal information is handled, the Privacy Policy controls on that point.
Restriction, Suspension and Termination of Access
Because the Site has no accounts, there is nothing for you to cancel, and you may stop using it at any time. We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, restrict, suspend or end your access to all or part of the Site, block traffic, block or ignore form submissions, or stop responding to messages, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have violated these terms, are putting the Site or others at risk, are acting unlawfully or abusively, or that doing so is needed for security, maintenance or legal reasons. We may also discontinue the Site or any part of it, including the contact form, at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including those on intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification and the general provisions.
Severability
If a court or other authority finds any part of these terms invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that part will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted and, if necessary, modified to the minimum extent needed to make it enforceable. The remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. The invalidity of a provision in one place does not affect its validity elsewhere.
No Waiver
If we do not enforce a right or provision of these terms, or we delay in doing so, that is not a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver is effective only if it is in writing and made by us, and a waiver of one breach is not a waiver of any other breach.
Entire Agreement and Mandatory Rights
These terms, together with the Disclosure and the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us about your use of the Site. They replace earlier versions and any prior understandings about the same subject. These terms do not create any partnership, employment, agency or fiduciary relationship between you and us. They also do not create rights for any third party, except that the Released Parties may rely on the protections in these terms. If you are a consumer, you may have rights under mandatory laws where you live that cannot be waived or limited by agreement. Nothing in these terms removes those rights, and where these terms conflict with a mandatory right, the mandatory right prevails to that extent. The Site’s owner has not selected a governing law, forum, court or dispute-resolution process for these terms. This means that no particular law, court or arbitration process is named here, and your local mandatory rights are unaffected.
Assignment
You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our written consent, and any attempt to do so without consent is void to the extent the law permits. We may assign or transfer these terms and the Site, in whole or in part, including to a successor owner or operator, a purchaser of the Site or a person who takes over its operation, without notice to you. If that happens, the then-current terms and privacy policy will apply to your continued use of the Site.
Events Outside Our Reasonable Control
We are not responsible for any failure or delay in operating the Site or in responding to you if it is caused by events outside our reasonable control. These include internet or power outages, failures of hosting, DNS, email, spam-protection or other infrastructure providers, cyberattacks, denial-of-service activity, software defects in third-party components, natural disasters, fires, epidemics, labor disputes, war, terrorism, government action, and changes in law. This section does not excuse any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the Site adds or removes features, when its commercial arrangements change or when the law changes. The current version is always the one on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top shows when it was most recently revised. This version is dated October 6, 2026. Because the Site has no accounts or mailing list, we cannot notify individual visitors directly. We will post updates here, and where an update makes a material change we may add a visible notice on the Site. If applicable law requires a different kind of notice or a longer notice period, we will follow it. Your continued use of the Site after an update means that you accept the updated terms to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree to the changes, please stop using the Site.
Contact
You can reach us through the contact form on the Contact page or by email at hello@honeybutterbread.com. The contact form is currently enabled. It collects a name, an email address, a subject and a message, and it is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. Submitted messages are sent as email through Cloudflare email services to a private inbox that we do not identify publicly. Cloudflare has reported the receiving address as verified and mail routing as enabled, but we have not yet run an end-to-end delivery test. Because of that, we cannot guarantee that a form submission or an email will reach us, and a message may be delayed, filtered or lost. We do not promise a reply or any response time. If you need a response about something urgent or safety-related, please contact the relevant manufacturer, a qualified professional or emergency services rather than relying on a reply from us. The current details and any changes to availability are on the Contact page.
